NABJ President Ken Lemon announced that Rod Carter will serve as the NABJ Board of Directors Secretary.
Carter, a longstanding NABJ member and Weeknight Evening Anchor at CBS 17 News in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a former NABJ Region III Director and currently serves as the chair of the NABJ 50th Anniversary Committee. He is a past president of the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists and is currently a member of the NABJ Raleigh-Durham Chapter.
Carter has also served as an instructor for NABJ’s Student Multimedia Short Course and a mentor to NABJ students throughout his career. He currently serves as the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity’s International Director of Publicity.
Carter will continue the term of former Board Secretary Madison Carter, who will no longer serve on the Board due to NABJ constitutional and operating procedures guideline adherence.
“NABJ thanks Madison for her years of service and commitment to the Board and her contributions to our programs. We wish her well in her future endeavors,” said Lemon.
Lemon added, “We are grateful to have Rod return to the Board to offer his years of experience and industry knowledge. We are looking forward to working with him at our upcoming Convention in Chicago.”
